A study from Walker Information reveals that IT workers are more loyal to their companies than they were three years ago. This conclusion is based on responses from 2,500 IT employees across many industries. In this study, "truly loyal" is defined as an employee that said they were committed to their companies and planned on staying for at least two years. This, to me, seems rather dubious. Isn't 2 years the minimum that people recommend you stay with a company whether you like it or not to avoid being labeled a job hopper?

So what is causing loyalty to rise? Apparently, jobs that were once prone to high turnover are now being handled by contractors, while those workers that have managed to retain their jobs are happy to have avoided the outsourcing axe. Isn't that fantastic? Loyalty is higher because more people that have the crummy jobs aren't counted in the study and those that are counted are just happy to be employed.

But wait, there's one more gem from this study. The most loyal employees also have a positive view of their company's products and reputation. That's crazy talk. To think that those people that are happy with their jobs are also happy with their company is shocking. We need more studies to ferret out these useful bits of information!

I love the tone of this piece, Marios.

We need less statements of the obvious and more insight from surveys like this. Firstly how could anyone confuse "just glad to have a job" with loyalty. Was Lassie motivated to be the bravest dog alive because she was happy to be fed?

Secondly, if you are feeling happy just to have survived, what are the chances of you filling in a form to say that you hate your companies products?

Well if they pay me good then my loyalty is good. If a company is treating me bad, it's so obvious I will look for another job. IT sector should offer good salaries, because it needs stability.

loyalty should be a important character in every one. IT employees are working with more loyalty means they work in office like their own.
