Project Description

select reports I was hired by the Visa department of CIBC to work on the Mondex pilot. Mondex was CIBC's first foray in to electronic cash. As part of this pilot, CIBC needed a management and reporting tool that I built using Visual Basic and Crystal Reports. The select reports screen (right, top) shows the main entry screen to the reporting portion of the management system. Users were able to select the report as well as specify the report frequency and date.

Intranets were just beginning to become popular in 1998 so convincing senior members of my team that distributing reports via the intranet was a good idea took some effort on my part. However, after some research followed by a presentation, I was able to demonstrate that making the Mondex report list reports available on the intranet would allow the Mondex team to retain control of the data while freeing them from the responsibility of responding to the numerous requests for reports from upper management.

The reporting site (right, bottom) combined Active Server Pages and Crystal Reports to deliver ad-hoc and pre-designed reports to the executives interested in the Mondex electronic cash initiative. A sample list of pre-designed reports is shown to the right. The ad-hoc reports (not shown) allowed users to specify the start date, end date, retail category, and geographic location.
